Pre-operative Instructions
for intravenous anesthesia sedation:
Please do not eat or drink anything six (6) hours prior to your surgery.
In all cases you should:
1) Refrain from smoking 24 hours before surgery.
2) Do not take any medication other than what was discussed with you at the time of your consultation.
3) Please wear loose clothing, a short sleeved shirt and low heeled shoes.
4) If you wear contact lenses, leave them at home.
5) A responsible adult must accompany you to and from the appointment and remain in the office during the procedure.
6) Please remove all fingernail polish before your appointment. The amount of oxygen is measured through your fingernail and nail polish blocks the reading.
7) Drink sports drinks such as Gatorade throughout the day before the surgery.
8) Patients under 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Female patients please note: If you were given antibiotics please be advised , you should use other means of birth control for the duration of your current cycle.
